The Amazon Lifesavers Ministry provides many services to Amazon communities:
Medical and Dental Assistance: Medical and dental care, physiotherapy, nutritional counseling, legal and other services are provided to poor and needy communities.
Disease Prevention: Health presentations and workshops are held in the areas of hygiene, disease prevention, hypertension, diabetes, and longevity.
Health Fairs in Cities in the Interior: In partnership with the Mayor’s offices in the interior, health fairs are held to provide specialized care in areas such as: pediatrics, gynecology, general surgery, EKG, ultrasounds, and others.
Community Evangelism: Evangelistic campaigns are held in remote villages to teach them about the Bible. In addition, Bibles and Christian literature are distributed free of charge.
Stop-smoking Class: 5 day stop-smoking classes are held to instruct and encourage those who would like to quit smoking.
Volunteer Conferences: Dozens of conferences have already been conducted for our volunteers, originally under the name of Adventist Health Professionals Conference – EPSAM (1999-2002) and now under the name of Volunteer Conference (2007 – present).
Community Support: Assistance is provided in the development of community projects such as the Amazon River-dweller Project that was started in the community of Colônia Paraíso. The project helps this needy village to generate funds.
Vegetarian Cooking Classes: Using local foods we teach those interested how to prepare healthful, vegetarian meals.
Medical Missionary Trips: Using our boats we travel into the interior to provide medical assistance. Many of these trips involve partnership with schools such as Loma Linda University, Southern Adventist University, the Adventist University of São Paulo (UNASP), and others.
